This was Tarun Murthy’s words during the promotional events of his New Film Thudaram.. ” My new Movie starring Mohanlal is set to release…it’s a small story speaks about family drama genre. Everyone please watch and bless me..”
This actually removed the high expectations on the Lalettan’s usual releases…. But such thoughts only had room for the first few hours of the movie’s started.. Now we are seeing Lalettan and Tarun Murthy are all over social media.
Thudarum…! A Tarun Murthy ‘s Lalettan movie that was released very quietly without any big fuss!
The 10.30pm show, which was only a quarter filled when I booked it on Book My Show at the PVR Bangalore, but the theatre was full when the show started underlines the short-lived thought of ” small family drama”
The movie ‘Thudarum’ reminded me of some of Mohanlal’s classics…. like ‘Thazhavaram’, ‘Bhramaram’, ‘Drishyam’, ‘Oppom’ and so on… But I was able to see him again in complete fresh feel which only Lalettan can do.
In a word, the Lalettan fan boy inside Tarun is revealed with all its power and might through his Thudarum!
The movie, which started in a pretty slow pace , picks up speed towards the middle…. As it progresses from the middle, it seems like everything is understood yet not understood… As if something has been decided but not yet decided..!
Lalettan and the co stars are fighting with a very secret sense of purpose or mission.
One thing I wanted to write about was the hit combo between Lalettan and Shobhana..I was very exciting at the very thought i was going to see them on screen again together , but I was slightly disappointed..To be honest, I think Shobhana doesn’t have much to do in the story. If Tarun thought that he could bring that hit combo and get a few more people into the theater, then I can’t blame him.
Binu Pappu, Farhan Faasil, Maniyan Pillai, Irshad Ali and Thomas Mathew all did their parts well. But the one who shocked us was George Sir.
Malayalis won’t forget the certain police roles that played alongside as Antogonist of Lalettan’s charectors so quickly… DySP Sankaranarayanan, SI Kuttikkadan, Constable Sahadevan, and so on…are to be remembered a few. Now in Thudarum, we have another one …CI George Sir!! George Sir played by Prakash Varma is the one who really took the movie Thudarum to the next level.
As the movie progresses towards the end, it must be said that there is not a single audience who does not want to tear George Sir apart… George Sir has done so incredibly well… One of the finest acting maestro, our very own NF Varghese has left Malayalam and Malayalam cinema more than a decade ago.was heavily remebered by the fabulousacting of Mr. Prakash Varma..! He has so much depth and grandeur..while playing CI Grorge Sir in Thudaram and for sure, he will stick around and will be used among talented directors in the future too.
Thank you, Tarun, for discovering and bringing him and unleashing his best!!
The forest shots of Ranni, Pathanamthitta and the mountain pass that reminds of Kolli Hills are such a beautiful visual feast in Tarun Murthy’s Thudarum…!
If you ask whether it will surpass the movie “Empuran”in its collections … the question is why should it be surpassed? Both are two different themes…Two opposite Lalettan characters… Both are safe in the hands of the acting prodigy Mohanlal…Both the films where the directors clearly used the skills of Mohanlal as an actor..
For me, its just great visual treat from my Lalettan for the audience of Indian Cinema !
