Serial killer characters are not the first time in Malayalam. But Siju Sunny, Sivaprasad, Rajesh Madhavan, Basil and Tovino have shown that serial killer characters can be created like this as well in their newest release 2025 Vishu film Maranamass!

Maranamass is also a film that sarcastically says that titles are actually given based on all the mental disorders that the hero goes through .. 😅🤐
Babu Antony and Suresh Krishna were once upon a time , the most gruesome villains in Malayalam cinema… Audience used to wait for the hero to kill them as soon as possible after seeing their cruel scenes… The same duo has performed absolutely fabulous in this movie to make people laugh their hearts out with their good comic timing and wittiness and kudos to the writer Siju Sunny and the director Sivaprasad through their vision on Maranamass.
Everyone who been a part of this movie have done a fairly decent job…. Basil, as always, won applause with his excellent performance and is quickly reaching the label of a favorite actor of family audiences and friends. Some of Basil’s scenes were full of applause in the theater..most of them were from kids..When you get acceptance like this, what else do you need as an actor..! I should say this about Guru Somasundaram who played the cruel super Powered Villain in Minnal Murali who played a comic Cameo in this film which brings people to think that people do and say many things to con others .
Anishma, Pooja Mohanraj, and Jomon Jyotir also did their part with precision timing. The highlight is… Rajesh Damodharan! He proved once again that to be a villain, you don’t need huge muscled body .. Great acting skills is more than enough.
In some scenes, that lean body of your’s are full-on on the screen. Rajesh… you have managed to bring a magnificent screen presence at the climax scene and you profoundly made it so impactful what the movies deserved. Good Job 👏
I can’t end this writeup without mentioning these two lines… The production responsibility of this film was with our Tinova.. Oops… Tovino 😅. But to our everyone’s surprise, there is a cameo of Tovino in a crucial scene in this film. A huge applauses were there in the theatre just the time your scene was shown …
Dear Tovino…, You can be proud… that this is the proof that Malayalis have taken you in their favourites lists and it is only because of your attitude towards society as well as the good movies that you were part of. Keep up the good work Comrade!
Basil…! As a Director…as an Actor…Your filmography is just perfect…May more good films come in your way…May you direct more good films…As an entertainer, I’m sure that you don’t have to go very far to be called as their “JANAPRIYA NAYAKAN” by the people!
2025 Vishu…if you ask me, Is it Bazooka or Gymkhana…or Maranamass or Good Bad Ugly… ?
My take is Nazlen and Basil have won Vishu this year!
