Under the banner of Cubes Entertainments, Kattalan is an upcoming action thriller directed by debutant Paul George and produced by Sherief Mohammed, with Antony Varghese (Pepe) playing the lead role.
Sherief Mohammed’s previous production, Marco starring Unni Mukundan, was criticized for its excessive violence. Following this, he publicly stated that future films would reduce the intensity of violence. However, since Kattalan is an action thriller, director Paul George has clarified that it would not be possible to completely avoid violence in this film.
Kattalan is centered around the illegal ivory trade and the power struggles associated with it. Adding to its uniqueness is the fact that this is Paul George’s directorial debut.
In addition to Malayalam, the film is expected to be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, giving it a pan-Indian appeal.
Another highlight is the music, which is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, who rose to fame as the music director of the acclaimed Kannada film Kantara.
